About this location

Castile House in Aisne, France, is a derelict multi-story brick house whose facade is heavily overgrown with thick ivy and bare vines, with broken or shuttered windows, a dark open doorway on the lower level, a damaged roof and dormer, and weeds and scrub filling the foreground. Inside, the decay runs through rooms with peeling wallpaper and ceiling paint, dirt and dried leaves across the floors, cast-iron and white radiators beneath tall multi-paned windows that look out onto dense green foliage, and pale curtains or sheeting visible through an open white paneled door. Debris is scattered throughout, including papers, a rolled cylinder, a dark rectangular panel, a white electronic device with exposed components, a broken beige CRT monitor with a shattered screen, circuit-board pieces, and coiled wire. In another room a detached wooden door lies on the floor near a red fire extinguisher with its black hose and a wooden shelving unit, while an open window casement, missing ceiling tile, exposed grid, and grimy surfaces complete the neglected, overgrown atmosphere.
