Chateau Wans
About this location
At Chateau Wans in Limburg, the abandoned site is reached past a chain-link fence and overgrown grass, where a single-story brick building with a gable roof largely covered by a bright blue tarp bears graffiti, a green wall panel and a damaged lean-to. Inside, sunlight falls through empty window and door openings onto stripped concrete floors littered with debris and loose wires, while exposed wooden ceiling joists span rooms lined with crumbling plaster, exposed brick and a large dark bricked-up archway. A metal-framed window still looks out onto green vegetation, and outside the decay continues as a pile of broken dark roof tiles and long wooden boards with weeds pushing through, a weathered brick pillar nearby. Beyond the fence and trees, a building with a tower or spire is only partially visible, leaving the whole neglected place with a derelict, empty atmosphere.
