Huize Schoorsteen
About this location
The complex at Huize Schoorsteen has fully surrendered to the forest, its central stone building with a steep gabled roof flanked by long wings whose rusted corrugated roofs have partially caved in. Inside, the decay is heavy—rooms are gutted, with peeling blue and yellow walls, a fallen panel leaning over plaster debris, and a white bathtub holding a metal grate amid scattered belongings like a lone shoe and blue fabric. The greenhouse is just a frame of broken glass and scattered trash, while a weathered brick chimney stands in a clearing beside a crumbling outbuilding with broken windows. It’s a quiet, eerie site where every opening is either boarded over or shattered, and the forest is steadily pulling it all back into the earth.
