Jungle School
About this location
In West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, the Jungle School is an abandoned school building whose concrete ceilings, exposed brick walls, and large glass-block window walls still frame classrooms left to decay. Soft daylight passes through the glass blocks onto dirt-covered tiled floors scattered with debris, rubble, and fallen leaves, where wooden desks, metal-framed student chairs, open books, and a black briefcase remain in place. A vintage CRT television on a blue table sits beside a boxy grey device with a lens, while electrical panels and breaker boxes with tangled wires are mounted on the brick. Dried vines and plant matter drape over the equipment and cascade from ceiling conduits, and an open window looks out toward a neighboring brick building and greenery, giving the forgotten rooms a quiet, nature-reclaimed atmosphere.
