Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord
About this location
From the elevated walkways of Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, the sheer scale of the old ironworks unfolds in every direction—rust-streaked blast furnaces, cylindrical silos, and lattice towers linked by a tangled web of pipes, stairs, and steel platforms. The structure is in deep decay, with flaking paint, toothed ring gears, and heavily corroded metal surfaces that still speak to the monumental machinery once housed here. Graffiti covers weathered beams and railings, marking the park’s second life as a reclaimed industrial ruin. Around the base of the towering structures, trees and shrubs have pushed through the gravel and overgrown terrain, softening the hard edges of the steel. Against both overcast skies and bright blue ones, the contrast between sheer industrial weight and encroaching greenery makes this place feel less like a dead factory and more like a rusting monument slowly being taken back by nature.
