Maison Missionary / Huis van de Afrikaanse Pastoor / House of the African Pastor
About this location
The House of the African Pastor in Vlaams Brabant is a weathered brick building with a whitewashed, boarded-up ground floor, its paved walkway overgrown and a small annex sinking into the weeds. Inside, the living and dining room remains eerily furnished—a long wooden table with cane-backed chairs, a gold-framed still life, and a worn green armchair sit beneath striped curtains, dust and water stains settling over the patterned tile floor. A dusty staircase with a red-brown runner and sheer patterned curtains climbs into shadow, while another room has given in to a massive wall of ivy that pushes past a glass-fronted cabinet. Pale light filters through the grime, leaving the whole house frozen in a quiet, melancholic pause between its past and the nature reclaiming it.
