Old Ypres
About this location
This old industrial site in West-Vlaanderen is not large, but it’s easy to move through and surprisingly photogenic in its decay. Inside, stained green walls and high window bands look over rooms cluttered with coat racks, broken wooden furniture, red barrels, and scattered debris. Grimy pipework with hand-wheel valves is still marked by fading signs for “CHLOOR” and “ZUUR,” while a narrow concrete stairwell descends into a dusty utility cellar filled with rusted pipes, old machinery, papers, and the painted numbers “0 1.” Outside, a paved courtyard has been overtaken by weeds and wildflowers, with three black plastic chairs left isolated under the night’s harsh floodlights. It’s compact, gritty, and quietly eerie—a small but rewarding spot for a quick explore.
