Parn House
About this location
Parn House rises from the weed-choked grassland of Neusiedl am See as a decaying block of red brick and concrete, its raised entrance, metal-grid doors, and dark barred windows giving it the look of a forgotten institution, red graffiti streaked across the weathered walls. Inside, a concrete stairwell carries you up through peeling plaster and faded white tags, the broken edge of the steps exposing rough masonry amid the dust and rubble. The main room is in worse shape—black paint peeling from the ceiling, stained walls crumbling, the floor thick with dust—while graffiti like "SETA" and a black cat scrawled with "Miau" cover the surfaces and bare winter trees loom beyond the grated windows. The lower floor is entirely sealed behind metal grids, and though you might think of a ladder, the risk of the whole structure collapsing makes that a plan best left unexecuted.
