Shutter Island Doppelganger
About this location
The fallen branch on the overgrown veranda sets the tone before you're even through the door—rust and peeling paint have claimed every surface of this Belgian institution. Inside, the decay runs deep: a rusted tub in the bathroom, a broken window and radiator in the attic, and rooms where the clutter and shattered glass have merged into a single layer of neglect. One striking chamber holds a central glass booth with all its panes blown out, the grey-white tile beneath it littered with debris while black graffiti—including a haunting eye-like drawing—creeps across the fractured walls. The biggest hall is the most desolate: a checkered floor buried under fallen ceiling panels, tall multi-paned windows draped in dark red curtains, and a doorway at the far end disappearing into pure black.
