Villa Mistral is an easy one to get into — the fire that ripped through it has left the place open and stripped, but there’s still plenty to see among the soot and fallen plaster. The upper rooms are a tangle of ivy and peeling paint, with a weathered mask still perched on a ledge and a rusted sewing machine sitting beside a forgotten teddy bear in the old workroom. Downstairs, the bathroom is wrecked, the toilet shattered, and the basement is all exposed brick and crumbling plaster. It’s the kind of spot that rewards a slow wander, especially if you’re into the details left behind after the flames did their worst.
