Villa Rich is a study in strange contrasts, where pristine white bathtubs with gold fixtures and a clean double-sink bathroom sit just down the hall from mold-covered walls, rusted tubs, and peeling plaster. The preserved conservatory, with its arched windows and marble-topped bar, still whispers of its former luxury, yet a single chair in the empty space makes the quiet feel almost oppressive. Outside, the thatched roof is nearly swallowed by overgrown wisteria, and the neglect continues into a dense tangle of vegetation surrounding a swimming pool that has long gone stagnant. Ultimately, this is a charming little spot to photograph, but not one that justifies a long drive.
