Radio Kootwijk
About this location
Radio Kootwijk sprawls across the heathland like a ghost of the wireless age, its monumental Art Deco core—a towering concrete structure with narrow window slits—still standing proud over a vast, empty plaza where a dark reflection pond and lone black lamp posts only deepen the isolation. Around it, the scene fractures into contrasting states: preserved structures with domes and clean symmetrical lines keep their dignified geometry, while nearby companion buildings of brick and concrete fall to boarded-up openings, creeping decay, and aggressive overgrowth. The blend of stark, intact grandeur and crumbling, forgotten outbuildings leaves the whole complex suspended between a cherished monument and a relic being silently reclaimed by the landscape.
